Privacy
Anonymous by default. Honest always.
The plain-language version of what we collect, why, and what we will never do with it. If anything here seems off, write us: hello@ohsail.com.
The short version
The game is fully playable with no account and no signup. Your name and progress live in your browser. We collect anonymous analytics to make the lessons better. Anything more than that leaves your device only when you choose it: an email, a message, a sign-in.
What we collect
- Anonymous gameplay and site analytics. Which pages and lessons are opened, finished, or abandoned, where hints fire, and error reports when something breaks. These events carry a random device identifier, never your name or email, and we honor your browser’s Do Not Track setting. Processed by PostHog.
- Your email, when you give it. Joining the crew list is newsletter consent (managed through Resend; every mail has an unsubscribe link). Signing into the game creates an account; that is not newsletter consent, and we treat the two separately.
- Your progress, if you sign in. The same progress object your browser keeps is mirrored to your account (stored with Supabase) so it follows you across devices. Signed out, it stays on the device.
- Messages and forms. What you write in the contact or feedback forms, so we can read it and answer.
What we never do
- No ads, no ad tracking, no selling or sharing your data. Ever.
- No public display of your name or results without your explicit choice.
- No gating the teaching loop behind a signup. Sailing stays free and anonymous.
Your controls
Do Not Track in your browser silences analytics. Unsubscribe links end the newsletter. Write to hello@ohsail.com to see or delete your account data and we will do it, promptly and without ceremony. Services we rely on: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (accounts and progress), Resend (email), PostHog (analytics).
Oh Sail is a practice aid. It supplements real on-water instruction and is not a substitute. Always sail with proper training and safety gear.
