Oh Sail

Features

Everything between “someday” and your first real lesson.

The tutorial: step 1 of 6, the sail still down, Cap’n Pell talking you through it

Start here

The tutorial: Learn the Ropes

Gated steps that start with the sail down. Hoist, power, steer, head up, tack, stop. One control, one idea, one celebration at a time, and Cap’n Pell on the rail the whole way.

Sailing a close reach with the wind rose showing true and apparent wind

The core skill

Wind you can see

The water renders the actual wind field. Chase the dark puffs, avoid the glassy lees, and watch the wind rose split true from apparent as you trim. You learn to see the wind itself.

The harbor from above: the no-go zone and wind arrows drawn on the water

Feedback that sticks

Every run becomes a lesson

Fly overhead and see your sailing drawn on the water: the no-go zone, the wind arrows, your track with tacks numbered and luffing stretches in red. A ghost of your last attempt sails beside you, and three-star thresholds with VMG and course-efficiency stats give every run its next goal.

The Sea Chart: seven chapter pins on a route through the Grand Harbour, Malta 1780

Sail the Past

A story season: Malta, 1780

Seven chapters in the Grand Harbour, each an errand with real stakes that happens to teach one skill. Your Sea Chart fills in as you go, your rating climbs from Landsman toward Sailing Master, and a finished season unlocks the naval scenarios.

One curriculum

Points of sail, buoyage, docking with no brakes, the controlled gybe, man-overboard, leaving the slip under power. The same fundamentals as a first sailing course, in the order an instructor would teach them.

Cap’n Pell

Thirty seasons on the fuel-dock piling, a captain’s hat, and exactly the tip you need at the moment you need it. Dad jokes included at no charge.

Free sail, zero friction

The whole harbor, no clock: practice landings until they’re silk. Browser-based, one link, nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.

The Naval Season

Finish a season and the guns come out: broadsides, chain shot to the rigging, escorts brought home under fire. Combat is the reward for seamanship, never the on-ramp.
