Oh Sail is the homework that moves that hour off the water: a free, browser-based simulator with real polar-based physics, set on real NOAA chart data, with a coach who reacts to the student’s actual sailing and debriefs every run like a chalk talk.

What it teaches, honestly
Concepts and decisions: apparent wind, points of sail, right-of-way judgment, buoyage, the timing of a tack, the shape of a docking approach. It does not teach boat-feel, line handling, or the weight of a real gust, and we never claim it does. Oh Sail is a supplement to qualified instruction, not a substitute for it. It is built with a sailing instructor on the crew, and lessons that would not hold up at the helm do not ship.
The Instructor Edition
We are building tools on top of the free simulator for working instructors:
- A class view: who finished which lesson, where they stalled, before day one.
- Assignable lessons with preset conditions, like everyone in 18 knots before Saturday.
- Shareable class links. Still no student accounts to manage.
